Default Stump

I should know this because I have had 2 Spanish speaking foster kids with amputations but the worde does not come to mind. I need to know the word for the residule "stump" after a limb amputation. I am in email correspondence with volunteers in Nicaragua and the US prosthetist wants our contacts to get this measurement: "I need the circumference of his stump 4 cm from the bottom, taken with a seamstress tape measure."
Suggestions? Thanks,
Dennis

Is stump the medical term? Ive never really thought about it before. I´ve never heard anything else either. Just curious.

Default Stump

A discription could be: Distal portion of amputated extremity
