    Default Surgery

Abstract. Silicone breast implants have been used for augmentation mammoplasty. In most cases, the surgery is performed for cosmetic purposes.Although the incision line must be of minimal length, it is difficult to replace silicone prosthesis in these patients by a minimal incision.A Drainage tube is a choice for draining the air and facilitates replacement of the prosthesis. The authors have used this method successfully for 13 cases. There were no complications.
The described technique can be used for all augmentation
    mammoplasties using silicone breast implants.
    Key words: Augmentation mammoplasty—Drainage Tube
Silicone breast implant can be placed by different
    routes: transaxillary, submammary, and periareolar
routes [2].This report does not aim to describe an
    ideal technique for augmentation mammoplasty.A
simple method for facilitating silicone implants
replacement is reported.A survey from 1997 through
1999 of 13 patients who underwent augmentation
mammoplasty performed by a drainage tube is presented.

    JC

    Default Cirugia Plastica

Abstract. A 30-year-old female with mammarial hypotrophy was diagnosed with non-bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma (NBCIE) with dermatologic evaluation. Her mammarial hypotrophy and ptosis was corrected with a breast implant. Although there is a tendency to skin infections and increased skin fragility in the ichthyotic patients, breast augmentation with silicone prosthesis is welltolerated by the patient.

Please, be careful when translating medical lingo: "eritrodermia ictiosiforme no vesicular congénita" or "eritrodermia ictiosiforme no bullosa congénita". Good luck!
