Default adamantanes

Tengo 2 dudas con respecto a esta oración, la primera es que no encuentro una buena traducción para "came under pressure" y segundo no me gustra encontró por "found".
¿Será lo mismo si digo que "se los puso en tela de juicio"?

The adamantanes (amantadine, rimantadine) recently came under pressure when the global prevalence of adamantane-resistant influenza viruses was found to have significantly increased from 0.4 % in 1994-1995 to 12.3 % in 2003-2004.
De las dos clases de drogas disponibles, los adamantanos (amantadina y rimantadina) estuvieron recientemente bajo presión cuando se encontró que la prevalencia global de los virus de gripe resistentes al adamantano había aumentado significativamente de 0,4 % en 1994-1995 a 12,3 % en 2003-2004

Lo único que te puedo decir en este momento es que "se comprobó que" puede servir en lugar de "se encontró". Ahora me fijo por el otro tema.

Pienso que sería mejor usar "se observó" que "se comprobó" pues tiene otras implicaciones y el verbo "to find" te da la idea de que fue algo que se observó, se puso de manifiesto pero no se comprobó. En estos temas médicos la palabra comprobar indica pruebas posteriores o algo así.
Con respecto a came under pressure traduciría la oración como

el efecto (aunque es mejor encontrar otra palabra) de los adamantanos se puso en evidencia..../se comprometió... (términos médicos en los que no logro pensar ahora)

o algo asi como eso pero debes cambiar la oración para dar el sentido que tiene el original en inglés...estoy segura que habrán otras ideas.
