Hi,
could anybody help me with the translation to the spanish of the terms Risk, Harm and Hazard. In spanish the meaning of these words are so similar (Riesgo, peligro). I´m translating a Health & safety course and I having difficulties with these terms.

Hello Alvaro.

I'm not a native speaker but as nouns Risk=riesgo; Harm=daño and Hazard=peligro.

Risk and hazard are also similar in English.

Maybe if you give us an example of how you want to use theses words we can give a more precise answer.

Maybe this could help... The HAZARD is what generates the HARM. The RISK is the likelihood that someone or something can be HARMED, if exposed to a HAZARD.
Regarding the translations vicente gave you, I completely agree.

The words "riesgo" and "peligro" reflect a different meaning the same as in English with "risk" and "hazard." "Risk" involves the probability of a more or less unexpected event caused by a certain action or situation, while "hazard/peligro" involves danger, although the latter is often associated with "potential" which also adds a meaning of a certain probability. "Harm" is definitely "daño" as Vicente posts above, although it could also be a "potential harm."
