Hi forum-ers, is there any way at all to translate this term?

I've seen it a gazillion times in English, but I live in Argentina and I know we have a special "liking" for words in English.
Do you call them commodities all over the Spanish speaking world?

como "productos b�sicos", aunque en Argentina se usa en la mayor�a de los casas en ingl�s.

A veces depende del contexto. Otras opciones:
-materias primas
-bienes de consumo
-productos primarios
-activos
-productos b�sicos
-mercanc�as
-objetos de la transacci�n
y el muy conocido en Argentina: COMMODITIES

A parte de todas las opciones que ofreci� Merce; aqu� en Venzuela le llamamos "Insumos"

Me gustó materias primas, o quizás productor básicos, porque creo que los demás pueden ser cualquier consumible, como televisores.

Con respecto a "activos" yo tenía entendido que son bienes tangibles o intangibles que generan ganancia, como un bono que no necesariamente es consumible.

En el centro y sur de M�xico, no he escuchado la palabra "comodities" dentro del habla com�n de la gente. Y cuando he tenido que traducirla del ingl�s al espa�ol, el t�rmino que encuadra con mayor facilidad en casi cualquier contexto, es "mercanc�as".
