Match the items up

Good afternoon everyone,

I was wondering if I was using the following sentences well at work while I am working with Oracle system:

• Theitem is matched up against a payment
  
• Theitem is matched up with a payment
  

Apart from "to match up" I know "to match off" and "allocate" but could you also use other verbs like "compensate" ? Again , if you use them what sounds more natural to you , "with" or "again"? If you know more ways to say the same , please let me know

You could also say "The item is matched with a payment."

I do not think "match off" is good.

Also I question allocate and compensate. They are not are synonomous with "matched".

Other words with meanings similar to "matched": correlated; compared; coordinated
