Aussie vs Australian
I have heard the word "Aussie" many times while abroad and have always considered this term as colloquial, not slang. What do you think?

As an Australian, nearly all of us refer to ourselves as 'Aussies' rather then Australains. It's the 'Australian' way

As we have already learned some people are offended while others are not but Argies seems innocent enough to me because it doesn't appear to have a hidden connotation. At least none that I can imagine.

I don't know about the word "Aussies" but I've heard "Argies" is desrespective because the term was coined by British soldiers during the "Malvinas" war...
