Millennials destroyed the rules of written English
"Millennials destroyed the rules of written English – and created something better":
"... millennials are "breaking the constraints" of written English to "be as expressive as you can be in spoken language." This new variant of written English strives to convey what body language, and tone and volume of voice can achieve in spoken English.
Fonteyn says that on a superficial level, we can see millennials stripping anything unnecessary from their writing, like the removal of abbreviation markers in "dont," "cant," "im" and in acronyms like tf, ur, bc, idk, and lol. In a world where most of our conversations take place online, millennials are using a number of written devices to convey things that could typically only be communicated by cadence, volume, or even body language."

tl/dr
JK - Joking! (or Just Kidding can't remember witch one is it)
I have been accused of being a Millennial and I approve of this "Internets". #lol
On another note, I've read something like that article from Mashable here: Are Millennials Killing the Translation Industry? - Translation Blog
More acquitted to translation industry rather than written English.
Do you stand by it @vicente? or what are your thoughts about it?
Re: Millennials destroyed the rules of written English
I'm old school. I find it difficult to tolerate writing that does not use punctuation and proper grammar. Even if I wanted to I cannot make myself write like that!!:p Although I have my limitations I do my best to write properly in Spanish as well.
Re: Millennials destroyed the rules of written English
Oh, well, we're all quick to point that out. Yes, dont and cant and im look incomplete, but hey, we all do it online :/
This is a translation forum and it's a sort of microcosm, but check any other forums and.... let's just say correctness decreases alarmingly.
