Muy interesante. Para que complicarnos la vida si todo puede ser mas simple, incluso con el idioma.

Creo que el inglés es flexible y en algunas cosas arbitrario.

Coincido en algunas cuestiones; otras me parecen un poco más arriesgadas. Al igual que en el español, siempre estos cambios deben justificarse en los usos que hace una comunidad parlante determinada. De todas formas, hay que evitar la simplificación extrema para no terminar con el Newspeak de Orwell. Si realmente pensamos mediante el lenguaje, es arriesgado reducir el idioma de modo exagerado.

It strikes me that Mr. Pinker could find more productive ways to spend his time than complaining about "who/whom"; "that/which"; "I/me", etc. All minor rules which most English speakers ignore when talking but try to follow when writing formally and more importantly, when translating. I'm sure any language has its quirks but treating the minor rules with respect is the difference between the well-educated and the careless or badly educated.
It might be unimportant to some, and I'm no scholar, but when I hear someone say "My friend and me went to the movies", it has a negative effect on my opinion of their level of education.
NOTE: The article contained at least one error. In the sentence “the shoes that he bought costed 100 pounds”... the proper spelling of the preterite of "to cost" is cost, not costed.
