Thread: tap, faucet, spigot

Well, I mostly say faucet, and I think that is mostly true for the people that live in my area of Nashville, Tennessee which is urbanized. Now there are more country/rural parts of the state that will say different things, but in general I think "faucet" is a good general rule of thumb.

Wisconsin English can be odd, some people here still say "bubbler" for the water fountain from which one drinks directly. I have never been to Wisconsin. So that explains why I have never heard about a bubbler :-)

I had heard about the Time Machine though...

In Hawaii we refer to it as "faucet" as well. We identified the water coming from it as "tap" water. Interesting how the same item is called by a different name in other locations!
