Usualmente, en informatica, un startup es una aplicacion que se autoinicia al encender la PC.
Imagino que tendra otros significados, pero no los conozco..

    Matias is correct.

A startup can apply to many things. A startup business, a startup program, etc., and means the beginning of an activity or endeavor.

    noun
    1.
the act or fact of starting something; a setting in motion.
    2.
a new business venture, or a new commercial or industrial project:
    a small, 5-month-old Internet startup.
    adjective
    3.
of or relating to the beginning of such a venture or project, especially to an investment made to initiate it:
high start-up costs for construction of a new facility.

Not to be confused with "upstart"....which, in the US, generally refers to a person

    noun
    1.
a person who has risen suddenly from a humble position to wealth, power, or a position of consequence.
    2.
    a presumptuous and objectionable person who has so risen;
    vicente

Un Startup es crear un emprendimiento o una empresa desde cero. Por lo general no se lo traduce, porque al ser un término aplicado al mundo de los negocios, es común usar la expresión en inglés

Lo mejor es dejarlo en inglés y usarlo en cursiva

    ¡Estoy de acuerdo!

Cuando se acuñan nuevos términos, lo mejor es dejarlos en inglés.
