Who knows the meaning of rain on sb's parade?
thanks!
I would interpret it as an obstacle or a setback in somebody’s objectives or goals. What do you think?
Thanks Hebe!
How would you translate it?
Colloquially speaking, we say “una piedra en el zapato”. In Christ’s time they used to call it “una piedra de tropiezo”(than would be only a semantic translation not a faithful one) :)
It could also be una piedra en el camino. What do you think Hebe?
It sounds perfect !!!! :)
To me, that phrase is equivalent to "to let the wind out of somebody´s sails" or "to burst somebody´s bubble", which mean "to disappoint somebody".
to frustrate somebody´s plans.
The last post is the most correct as far as getting the meaning across in English.
The only expression in Spanish that I know of that gets the meaning across would be "pinchar el globo".
I hope it's not too late to help!!!
right on scott!
