Default Weird characters with imported TM

Hi:
I have a problem with a Trados TM I imported. The TM was created by another translator. Now, while I translate and get a 100% match or fuzzy match, the accented characters are changed into weird characters, and I have to take the time to fix every single accented character. Does anybody know why this happens and how I can troubleshoot it?
Thanks

Default Re: Weird characters with imported TM

Hi! I've seen that too. I've heard it's in a way related to the character map of that computer (it might be an old machine or sth). What you can do is to export the TM in txt and "find and replace" the weird characters and replace them with the correct leters.

I've seen this too, and I also had to replace the mistakes....

Sometimes Trados is just a big unsolved problem It's the same with the OLE/COM error.

In this case, the target language is French, and my French isn't good enough to know the right characters to replace the weird ones.
Thank you for your help!
