Default Re: Can someone help with this text!

Hi Eréndira,
Normally you shouldn't post a full article like that, but I'm practising for a translation exam, so I'm feel ing generous :-)

After the various economic crises that the Mexican land has gone through, such as shortages of water and land, the Mexican government implemented the National Strategy for Protected Agriculture (promoting agricultural production in greenhouses). The goal is not only to boost production, but also local development in productive areas. One characteristic of this activity is that it principally involves young female labour, in a similar way to the boom that the exporting assembly plant industry experienced in 1980 (Lara, 1993). Although the assembly plants had an economic impact, they also generated unfortunate side effects in that they stimulated migration, causing women to leave their areas of origin and run various risks such as the 'feminicides' (murders of women) in the cities of Juarez and Chihuahua, among others. In contrast to former sources of employment, protected agriculture seeks to retain the local population and develop strategies in a coordinated way with the main socio-political actors in order to improve their standard of life beyond resolving the economic problem.

Hope that helps you,

Jonathan
