This is tough. I think that rchl is looking for the name or term for the oil, or chemical, that produces the fog or smokescreen and not the smokescreen itself. So would it be some sort of
aceite, o química, o compuesto, o algo que contiene los ingredientes that causes the smoke or air pollution?
