This is what I found, but I've never tried it:
Use T-Window for Clipboard (directly on Illustrator files). This way, it lets you keep the layout format.
Run your TM, open the Illustrator file, select the sentence with the Text pointer or any other more comfortable pointer, copy, and T-Window appears with two little windows: one for the source text, and one for the target text. You write your translation on this window, click on the set/close button and that's it. (It is suppossed to be copied on your PC clipboard, so, you just paste on Illustrator.) Repeat with each sentence until translation is completed.
