Hi Veronica,
I use DejaVu sporadically, and for me personally, it's not the best for my daily work (I'm a huge fan of wordfast for that). You have to import and export files, and it has a side-by-side setup - two columns with source segment on left and a blank space on the right- that makes it harder (at least for me) to get the flow of the text.
However, it does work GREAT with files in non-Word formats (powerpoint, excel, html, and a huge list of others that I've never tried) and with Word docs with billions of text boxes (which can sometimes choke Wordfast). I abandoned Trados several years ago in favor of Wordfast, so I can't give you a comparison there...
It's pretty similar to WF and Trados in terms of finding matching segments, and has some different functions to assemble segments out of parts of previously translated material, but since I only use it every once in a while with funky file formats, I haven't gotten an in-depth understanding of everything it can do.
HTH,
Bill
